Macworld Expo great despite Apple's absence: Jacqui Cheng of Ars Technica writes that the conference's huge crowds ended up surprising everyone, all but guaranteeing a future for the Macworld Expo. Perhaps this means there is a future for Apple events, even if Apple is not there?
Macworld magazine has also run a 'best of' slideshow (pic: ex Mac evangelist Guy Kawasaki at the show, from the Macworld site). Another Macworld page has a video interview with TidBits and Take Control Books Adama and Tonya Engst, talking to Christopher Breen.
Mac music tools on display at Macworld Music Studio: Macworld Expo organisers dedicated a large corner of the show floor to the Macworld Music Studio stage, which featured regularly scheduled presentations at last week’s trade show. Those presentations tackled everything everything from getting great guitar tones on your Mac to programming drums and learning to DJ with special software,
reports Macworld magazine (owned by a division of IDG which another IDG division runs Macworld Expo in San Francisco).
Microsoft's big presence at Macworld: "With a massive 3D banner hanging in the middle of the building, and full time mascots dressed up like Office icons roaming the floor, the message was crystal clear: Office for Mac 2011 is coming soon, and
Microsoft wants you to know about it." The sizable Microsoft booth was well attended throughout the week.
Adobe blocks latest version of HTML5: The latest publication of HTML5 has been blocked by Adobe, via an objection that has still not been made public (despite yesterday's promise to make it so).
AppleInsider call this 'sabotage'. Adobe is backing it's own Flash software as the answer to online and mobile apps as the stoush between Apple, which actively supports HTML5 development and which has refused to support Flash in the iPhone OS and for iPad, heats up.
