Strange Apple event? According to a new rumour from Japanese site Macotakara, Apple is planning to hold an event in February. However, despite the fact that many people would immediately place this event in the context of a launch event for the iPad 3, the site is reporting that this is not a product launch event (via MacRumors). Instead, they are describing it as a ‘Strange’ Apple event, which, as you’ll appreciate, is a very ‘strange’ description.
[I thought releasing something new at the Guggenheim in New York was odd already.]

Security update for Snow Leopard; update to Apple Remote Desktop — Security Update 2012-001 (Snow Leopard) (and the corresponding server edition) is recommended for all Snow Leopard users. The update addresses security issues.
The Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.2 update addresses issues with screen sharing, Apple says. The update fixes authentication when using Kerberos, or when logging in as a user with no password. It also fixes problems controlling a remote computer with two displays, when the primary display is on the right.
Both updates are available through Apple’s Support site as well as the Mac OS X’s Software Update.

SubRosaSoft.com Inc updates — The software company founded by a Kiwi and focusing on data recovery and system utility software, announces the immediate availability of version 7.5 for the entire Salvage line. FileSalvage, CameraSalvage, and PodSalvage have all been upgraded.  Improved search and recover functions increase the chances of recovering lost files.
