Apple TV a hobby & PCs like trucks

Thursday, 03 June 2010

Apple TV a 'hobby,' PCs like trucks ... Apple CEO Steve Jobs opened the 2010 D8 conference with a lengthy interview led by Kara Swisher and long time US Apple commentator Walt Mossberg (pic) followed by a Q&A session from members of the audience.
All Things Digital has posted seven short video excerpts. The videos offer an overview of the interview and the subjects covered.
He talks about Google, iPad, iPhone, Adobe Flash and many other tops – a full written transcript was posted by Engadget.

No new Apple TV? Although many hope a new model Apple TV that ticks all the boxes will be announced at WWDC, that now seems unlikely. Apple TV remains just a hobby, the Cupertino, Californian company chief executive said in the Tuesday interview (above).
The problem, apparently, is the cable industry.
Cable operators “give everybody a set-top box for free, or for $10 per month,” Steve Jobs told an audience at the All Things Digital conference. “That pretty much squashes any opportunity for innovation, because nobody’s willing to buy a set-top box.”
