Level 1 programme
L1-1 – Introduction to the Mac and OS X
L1-2 – Looking after your Mac hardware and software
L1-3 – The iApps (Apple's free software) and how they work together
L1-4 – The ’Net Mail, the internet, downloads, safety and smart searching
L1-5 – Music – iTunes and GarageBand
L1-6 – All about iPhoto
L1-7 – Tips, tricks and cool extras
Level 2 programme
L2-1 – All about Words: touching on writing skills, Microsoft Word, Pages, design and page layout, Dictionary and more.
L2-2 – Images: a look at Aperture and Photoshop with a view to purposing images for specific projects (print, the web, podcasts). Learn the fundamentals of editing, layers, sharpening and more.
L2-3 – iMovie: how to edit your clips down, use transitions and effects, make a movie and export it to DVD and the web (suits iLife 09 version).
L2-4 – GarageBand for fun and profit. Make soundtracks for Podcasts, Presentations, Slideshows and Movies.
L2-5/ – iWeb in depth: learn how to make exciting sites as blogs, for family albums and for your business.
All sessions take at least one hour, are inclusive and friendly and they cost $35 each ($25 students and beneficiaries). Pay for four sessions at once for a 10% discount – that comes to $126 instead of $140 (or $90 for beneficiaries instead of $100). All prices include GST
Courses are projected, feel free to bring a laptop if you have one, but you get a reminder tip-sheet after the session and a free mac.nz mouse pad, plus a schedule of later sessions.
All sessions take place at 7:30-8:30 at Grey Lynn Community Centre, 510 Richmond Rd, close to the North-Western Motorway (Western Springs turn-off). There is ample parking.
